Hierdie artikel beweeg hoofsaaklik op die veld van komposisie-analise. In Joh. 1 tree die kwessie van bronne telkens na vore. Die versoeking is inderdaad groot om op die aard en oorsprong van hierdie bronne in te gaan. Nietemin wil skrywer hierdie versoeking weerstaan en net na bronne verwys waar dit vir die betoog funksioneel is.
