Abstract
Na reestruturação do capitalismo que foi produzido nos anos 1970, as novas tecnologias da informação e comunicação tiveram um papel fundamental ao permitir uma utilização intensiva do conhecimento, um papel que podemos rastrear em suas continuidades até os dias atuais. Nas últimas décadas assistimos ao desenvolvimento de uma tensão entre a tendência à privatização, própria do capitalismo cognitivo, e a tendência democratizadora da economia social do conhecimento. O presente artigo trata de analisar tal tensão apontando suas consequências para os modelos de desenvolvimento que entram em disputa no atual contexto global.
