Abstract
El más destacado promotor del I Festival fue el doctor Jaime Sanín Echeverri, director del antiguo Fondo Universitario Nacional. Simultáneamente con esa iniciativa se constituyó la Corporación Civil denominada "Festival Latinoamericano de Teatro", compuesta por la Asociación Colombiana de Universidades, la Universidad de Caldas, la Oficina de Fomento y Turismo de Manizales, la Cámara de Comercio y la Sociedad Procultura.
