Abstract
This article analyzes the process of introduction into research in science education as part of the biology teaching major at the State University of South-Westerly of Bahia (UESB). The study, conducted during the years of 2002 and 2003, involved the experiences of 12 students who participated in the process from the elaboration of the research project until the
conclusion of the final monograph. Data collection involved interviews and documentary analysis, besides contact with teachers who advised the students. The objective of the research was to detect the effects of this process in the education of undergraduate students, and to verify if the final assignments somehow supported the integration of the area of specific contents and the area of pedagogical education, adding to the construction of a curricular proposal, in which all can contribute effectively to teacher education.
