Abstract
Se realiza un estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo para evaluar la fragilidad del anciano solo en las cuatro Áreas de Salud del municipio Pinar del Río en el año 2006, analizando las condiciones socioeconómicas de estos ancianos, la morbilidad de los mismos, los ingresos en los últimos 12 meses, y su necesidad de asistencia médica y social. Para el estudio se dividen en ancianos solos, atendidos por la familia y ancianos solos no atendidos o desamparados. Se encontró una mayor prevalencia de ancianos solos en las edades de 60 - 75 años en las zonas urbanas y del sexo femenino. Se aprecio una mayor tendencia a las enfermedades Cardiovasculares, Cerebro vasculares, Hipertensión Arterial, Diabetes Mellitus y Cáncer. Más del 30% de los ancianos tienen necesidades socioeconómicas. Los resultados finales del estudio sugieren un modelo específico para cada localidad con el fin de una mejor atención al anciano solo.
A descriptive, retrospective study aimed at assessing the vulnerability of the aged living alone in the fourth Health Areas of Pinar del Rio municipality during 2006 was conducted. The socioeconomic conditions, morbidity, hospital admissions in the last 12 months and necessity of medical and social assistance of this group of people were analyzed. To carry out this study the aged were divided into two groups, those being attended by the family and those neglected or defenseless. A higher prevalence of the aged living alone was found: female, ages 60-75 mainly in urban sites. Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, hypertension, diabetes mellitus and cancer showed a major trend. More than 30% of the aged, presented socioeconomic needs. The final results of the study suggested a specific model for each site with the purpose of improving the care of the aged living alone.
