Abstract
La ermita es una edificación sagrada sustentada por una religiosidad de carácter predominantemente popular. Este trabajo se fundamenta en una investigación de campo en el que se censaron y estudiaron etnográficamente un total de 776 ermitas en el territorio de Bizkaia. Atendiendo sobre todo a sus características funcionales y de significación cultural, en este ensayo se presentan seis tipos diferenciados de ermitas.
