Abstract
Mucho se ha hablado de la influencia que sobre Gabriel García Márquez ha ejercido William Faulkner, el desconcertante cronista del sur de los Estados Unidos. Sin embargo, bien pocas veces esta influencia ha sido señalada en forma precisa, de acuerdo a las semejanzas de las dos obras tanto en sus personajes como en sus situaciones, e incluso en la atmósfera que a su turno, y dentro del respectivo ambiente que se ha pretendido retratar, han creado los dos autores.
