Abstract

In this work, a new method of characterization of a local viticultural environment is studied. The vineyards of Saumur, the various geopedological aspects which strongly influence the behaviour of the vine (favourable on chalky soils, unfavourable on non carbonated soils). This method is based on the search for the given ecogeopedological sequence in relation to the traditional type of wine made. For the Saumur area, it concerns pedological terms developed with regard to sandy-glauconitic chalk of the mid Turonian.
