Abstract
Para el laureado poeta y divulgador eficaz de la obra de T. S. Eliot en Colombia, la visión panorámica de los poetas anteriores a "Piedra y cielo" se concentra en ocho nombres, todos con títulos suficientes para figurar en la más exigente antología suramericana. La mayoría de ellos perteneció a la nómina de "Los nuevos", cuya irrupción en nuestras letras equivalía a la aplicación de normas estéticas diferentes a las que aún prolongaban la vigencia del modernismo o del romanticismo tropical, que se había refugiado en la Gruta Simbólica o en las tertulias y publicaciones de provincia.
