Abstract
El artículo explica los factores que han contribuido al actual posicionamiento de Chile en los rankings internacionales de innovación y competitividad y propone acciones para mejorar y dinamizar el sistema chileno de innovación. Se afirma que los factores fundamentales para el despegue económico de este país combinan una historia de oportuna apertura económica con la creación y evolución de instituciones promotoras de innovación, un manejo macroeconómico responsable, y la consolidación, aún insuficiente, de un sistema nacional de innovación. Así mismo, se señalan las condiciones necesarias para mantener capacidad sostenida de innovación y, utilizando conceptos y metodologías de sistemas adaptativos complejos, cibernética y aprendizaje organizacional, se sugieren acciones para facilitar la innovación productiva.
