Abstract
<p>Este artigo objetiva investigar a incidência e os efeitos do processo cognitivo da personificação em textos de natureza formal. Parte-se da constatação de que, nesses gêneros textuais, algumas construções com personificação são aceitáveis, ao passo que outras não. O estudo busca determinar as condições de possibilidade e interdição de tais construções e adota para tanto categorias analíticas e constructos teóricos oferecidos na Lingüística Cognitiva, com destaque para as proposições acerca de <em>modelos cognitivos idealizados</em> e de <em>projeções entre domínios cognitivos</em>.</p>
