Abstract
This article analyses the representation of two fictional anthropologists from La bête faramineuse (Bergounioux, 1986) and Naissance d’un pont (Kerangal, 2010) in order to shed light on several aspects of the anthropology conveyed by these two novels. The hope is to achieve a better understanding of common concerns and shiftings in the conception of the anthropological discipline and of the human experience that these texts involve. It pays particular attention to the way in which the texts question the relationship between selfhood and community.
