Abstract

Abstract
Inside the energy and environmental possibilities of the different types of renewable energy; the eolic one for it clean and
inexhaustible character, allows a great development in those areas with the necessary potential for their application and, in
a similar way, the solar energy presents important advantages. Both are gratuitous resources, non-pollutants and available
in many countries. According to the available technologies, the use of hybrid systems of photovoltaic and eolic solar energy
presents interest to cover isolated consumptions.
This work is about the possibility of use of the eolic photovoltaic hybrid systems for the electricity generation in Cuba. The
design of an energy installation that satisfies the requirements of a tourist installation located in Sabinal Key (north of
Camagüey), is presented.
An economic valuation is made to select the eolic better combination and this is compared with other forms of electricity
generation (Diesel Plants and an independent Eolic System), being the hybrid system the most economic.

Key words: Renewable energy, hybrid systems, autonomous systems, renewable resources, energy costs,
environmental contamination.
