Abstract
Virginia Gutiérrez de Pineda nació en Socorro (Santander), estudió en el Instituto Pedagógico Nacional e ingresó en la Escuela Normal Superior ( 1940- 1944), institución decisiva en su formación, donde estudió ciencias sociales y etnología. Pionera en los trabajos sobre la familia en Colombia y de antropología médica, sus evaluables aportes han sido reconocidos ampliamente por el mundo intelectual. Se ha hecho merecedora al otorgamiento por el gobierno nacional de las condecoraciones Camilo Torres, Orden Presidencial del Mérito y medalla al mérito Ester Aranda. Sus treinta años de cátedra universitaria han sido coronados con la categoría de Profesora Honoraria de la Universidad Nacional. La presente entrevista forma parte del archivo oral de la investigación "La Escuela Normal Superior: 1936-1951", que los autores realizan para la Universidad Pedagógica Nacional.
