Abstract
Entre os diversos grupos religiosos apresentados pelo Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE), o grupo dos "sem religião" é um que instiga a pesquisa de cientistas sociais e estudiosos da religião. O Censo de 2010 revela que os sem religião são o terceiro maior grupo do cenário religioso brasileiro: 8,04% da população brasileira se declara sem religião, o que corresponde, em termos absolutos, a 15.335.510 indivíduos (IBGE, 2014b). Além disso, os dados revelam que os sem religião não param de crescer e apresentam uma média de crescimento continuamente superior à da população brasileira (IBGE, 2014g). Tal fenômeno incita algumas perguntas, como por exemplo: Qual o perfil do grupo dos sem religião? O que esses indivíduos pensam sobre religião? Será que eles cultivam alguma espiritualidade? Como será essa espiritualidade: religiosa ou não-religiosa? Quais os fatores que suscitam a expansão desse fenômeno? Os dados que são apresentados de seguida são um estímulo para quem deseja refletir e compreender o fenômeno dos sem religião.
