Abstract
Persistence of proatlantal artery (PA) is a rare condition. More than 40 cases were described in the literature. Aneurysm may involve the PA itself in approximately 2% of cases, most arising from the internal carotid artery (ICA) side of PA. This case was particular because the PA showed a saccular aneurysm on the posterior wall, probably due to atherosclerosis disease and other alterations: plaque ulcerative of ICA, occlusion of left ICA, and aberrant right VA.
La persistance de l'artère proatlantale (AP) est une anomalie rare. Plus de 40 cas ont été décrits dans la littérature. Un anévrisme peut toucher l'AP elle-même dans environ 2 % des cas, la plupart se développant du côté de l'artère carotide interne (ACI) de l'AP. Ce cas était particulier car l'AP présentait un anévrisme sacculaire sur sa paroi postérieure, probablement attribuable à une maladie athéroscléreuse et à d'autres altérations : une plaque ulcérée de l'ACI, une occlusion de l'ACI gauche et une AV droite aberrante.
