Abstract
En este artículo se analiza la cobertura de noticias internacionales en los periódicos de tirada nacional en Puerto Rico -El Nuevo Día, El Vocero y Primera Hora- desde la perspectiva de la distancia informativa. Se parte de la hipótesis de que la selección de los contenidos de la información internacional está condicionada en Puerto Rico, como en otros lugares del mundo, por el criterio de la distancia, en términos no geográficos, sino afectivos, morales y simbólicos, respecto al lugar del acontecimiento del que se da la noticia. En el caso de Puerto Rico, esa distancia que establecen los periódicos y otros medios en el país caribeño está condicionada por su relación política colonial con Estados Unidos.
