Abstract

Considering cyberculture as dominant in our post-massive society, it is reasonable to assume that its elements influence the products of this culture, even the non-massive ones, like fashion ads in women's magazines. Starting from this premise, this paper seeks to verify the presence of aspects of cyberculture in women's clothing branding ads in Elle magazine, especially the concepts of prosthetic and remolded bodies. The analysis reveals the presence of these conceptions in ads, although some of them are more subtle, due to the need for acceptance of ads and products by consumers. The work is especially based on the cyberculture concepts of André Lemos (2008) and aspects of the post-human body of Lucia Santaella (2003) and Cristiane Mesquita (2004).
