Abstract
Aging is a global phenomena, observed in different forms in developed countries and in developing countries, since successful aging is interdependent of biological, psychological and social conditions favoring to the exercise of selfcare to health. Such practices are often cultivated through education that intertwines with the process of aging and health. This essay discusses the relation of education, selfcare and health for the successful aging in a brazilian context. Considered important articles and books about the theme permitted observe a multiple production that, often, contrasts with the objective reality of elderly’s health in the Brazil. Final considerations alert for the urgency of effective actions that take the role of the citizenship from a sketch and promotes an environment in which the subject that ages rest assured that the process of aging will be successful.
