Abstract
The King’s New Clothes: Constructing and Reconstructing Ethnic Traditions in Contemporary Buriatia The text is a review of Ewa Nowicka’s book. The review contains an overview of field research and contents of the book. It convincingly shows how political and social elites of Russian Buriatia try to construct or reconstruct Buriat ethnic identity. The review demonstrates that the book fulfilled its aims.   Nowe szaty króla? Konstruowanie i rekonstruowanie tradycji etnicznych we współczesnej Buriacji Tekst jest recenzją książki Ewy Nowickiej. Autorka książki pokazuje, w jaki sposób elity polityczne i społeczne rosyjskiej Buriacji próbują konstruować lub rekonstruować tożsamość etniczną, definiowaną jako tożsamość buriacka. W recenzji zwrócono uwagę na wnikliwą analizę omawianej problematyki, co sprawiło, że cel autorki został osiągnięty.
