Abstract
Objective: To study the STATs family expression in non-small cell lung cancer tissue and the potential target genes of STATs. Methods: A total of 128 patients diagnosed with nonsmall cell lung cancer in our hospital between May 2013 and August 2016 were selected, lung cancer tissue and para-carcinoma tissue were collected to extract protein, and then enzyme linked immunosorbent assay kits were used to determine the expression of STATs as well as proliferation, apoptosis and angiogenesis-related genes. Results: STAT1 protein expression in non-small cell lung cancer tissue was significantly lower than that in para-carcinoma tissue, STAT3 and STAT5 protein expression were significantly higher than those in para-carcinoma tissue, and STAT2, STAT4 and STAT6 protein expression were not significantly different from those in para-carcinoma tissue; Bcl-2 and Bcl-xL protein expression in non-small cell lung cancer tissue with high STAT1 expression were significantly lower than those in non-small cell lung cancer tissue with low STAT1 expression while Caspase-2, Caspase-3 and Caspase-7 protein expression were significantly higher than those in non-small cell lung cancer tissue with low STAT1 expression; VEGF-A, VEGFR1, VEGFR2, FGF2 and FGFR1 protein expression in non-small cell lung cancer tissue with high STAT3 and STAT5 expression were significantly higher than those in non-small cell lung cancer tissue with low STAT3 and STAT5 expression. Conclusion: STAT1 is lowly expressed while STAT3 and STAT5 are highly expressed in nonsmall cell lung cancer tissue, the target genes of STAT1 are the proliferation and apoptosis genes, and the target genes of STAT3 and STAT5 are angiogenesis genes.
