Abstract
Se realizó un estudio descriptivo de tipo cuanti-cualitativo en 2 centros escolares del municipio 10 de Octubre, con el objetivo de caracterizar el comportamiento ante el alcohol en las diferentes etapas de la adolescencia. La información se obtuvo utilizando una encuesta y la técnica de grupos focales. Los resultados muestran que el comportamiento predominante ante el alcohol fue el de consumo normal de bebidas alcohólicas en ambas etapas, y varía de acuerdo con esta, incrementándose en la etapa tardía. El nivel de información sobre alcoholismo es predominantemente suficiente en los adolescentes, aunque generalmente insuficiente en la primera etapa, y los factores de riesgo psicosociales que se relacionan con el consumo de bebidas para ambas etapas son: patrones inadecuados de educación sobre el comportamiento normal ante el alcohol, imitación o contagio grupal, pobre autoestima, nivel de información insuficiente con relación al consumo excesivo de alcohol y la carencia de opciones recreativas.
A descriptive quantitative and qualitative study was conducted in 2 educational centers of 10 de Octubre municipality in order to characterize the behavior of the students in relation to alcohol during the different stages of adolescence. The information was obtained by doing a survey and using the focal group technique. The results showed that the predominant behavior was the normal consumption of alcoholic beverages in both stages and that it varied according to the stage. An increase was observed in the last stage. The level of information about alcoholism is predominantly sufficient in the adolescents, although it is generally insufficient in the first stage. The psychosocial risk factors connected with alcohol consumption in both stages are the following: inadequate patterns of education as regards the normal behavior with alcohol, imitation or group contagion, poor self-esteem, deficient level of information in relation to the excessive consumption of alcohol and the lack of recreational choices.
