Abstract
Este trabalho teve como objetivo verificar a variabilidade interanual da área destinada à cultura da soja em relação com a produção agrícola desta mesma leguminosa em cinco municípios da região metropolitana de Londrina – PR, Cambé, Ibiporã, Londrina, Rolândia e Tamarana. Justifica-se tal proposta pela necessidade de se compreender o perfil de uma região apta ao cultivo agrícola da soja, subsidiado, sobretudo, pelos seus fatores históricos de ocupação e expansão da cultura, apresentados aqui na forma de levantamento bibliográfico e análise de dados de produção agrícola. Como resultado, é nítida a expansão da área colhida em todos os municípios analisados, porém sem um acompanhamento proporcional da sojicultura, assim como é evidente que houve perdas na produção de soja na safra de 2008/09, tanto em Cambé e Londrina, quanto em Rolândia e Tamarana.
