Abstract
<p>O objetivo deste trabalho é descrever o comportamento lingüístico da perífrase <em>só que</em> em dados do português falado e escrito. Para tanto, contemplo duas perspectivas: a invariabilidade e a variabilidade de <em>só que</em>. A primeira se refere, entre outras coisas, ao sentido básico de cancelamento de pressuposição pragmática; e a segunda, ao fato de <em>só que</em> assumir, conforme as condições de uso, cinco acepções de sentido, que têm características lingüísticas distintas.</p>
