Abstract
The state’s ability to control urbanisation through town planning regulations has been very limited in Lebanon, where the civil war (1975-1990) has had a major impact on movement of people and relocation of economic activities. However it is possible to establish a relationship between the contents of urban master plans and the distribution of urban development at both national and local levels.
