<p>As palavras cruzadas, constituindo um jogo elaborado com base em definições de palavras, apresentam tipos variados de definições. Essas podem ser classificadas em enciclopédica, icônica, nominal, negativa, por extensão e por adivinhação. Nas palavras cruzadas de nível "fácil', predomina a definição nominal, seguida da adivinhação. Nas de nível "difícil', a posição se inverte: a definição por adivinhação é seguida da nominal.</p>
