Abstract
Si acercarse al tema del patrimonio arquitectónico planteas algunas preguntas, estas se duplican en el caso de Cartagena. A las clásicas ¿qué preservar? y ¿porqué preservar?, se suman, ¿para quién preservar? Y la mas dolorosa de todas ¿qué hacer para preservar?  Las dos primeras preguntas tienen su asidero (o al menos, uno de ellos) en la debacle del Movimiento Moderno y el surgimiento de un post modernismo con guiños hacia el historicismo y una retórica que va desde los ejercicios más radicales de los hermanos Krier hasta la degradación estilística que constituyen, hasta el día de hoy la moda de las casas Georgean. El punto de quiebre, tal vez sea el “Año del Patrimonio Arquitectónico Europeo” (1975) y los hitos de esta sensibilidad, las Declaratorias de cientos de edificios y ciudades como Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad.
