"defesa" ou "segurança"?: reflexões em torno de conceitos e ideologias "defense" or "security"?: reflections on concepts and ideologies

Conceitos da área de segurança, mormente empregados sem cuidado e acriticamente, são aqui submetidos à reflexão. Centrado no adjetivo "multidimensional", descrevo a forma como este termo foi sendo introduzido no debate americano da segurança sob o manto de uma "agenda de segurança hemisférica". Criticamos este intento buscando desconstruir aquele conceito, analisando brevemente as ameaças como fenômeno perceptivo e refletindo filosoficamente sobre a diferente natureza da "segurança" e da "defesa".
Concepts of the Security area, mainly used without care and criticism, are here submitted to reflection. Based on the adjective "multidimensional", I describe the form of how it has been introduced into the American debate of security under cover a "hemispheric security agenda". I criticize this attempt trying to deconstruct that concept analyzing briefly the threats like a perceptual phenomenon and reflecting philosophically on the different nature of "Security" and "Defense".
