Abstract
Depois de revisão da literatura sobre manifestações neurológicas da malária, são relatados 6 casos de pacientes que estiveram em tratamento na Unidade Integrada de Saúde de Sobradinho (Brasília, DF), e que apresentavam formas graves de malária com envolvimento do sistema nervoso central. Um dos casos mostrava acometimento predominante da medula, com síndrome cordonal posterior. Três pacientes faleceram e o exame histopatológico do sistema nervoso revelou lesões típicas da malária, confirmando o diagnóstico.
After a comprehensive review of the literature on neurological manifestations of malaria six cases observed in the Unidade Integrada de Saúde de Sobradinho (Brasília — DF) are reported. All patients but one presented very severe forms of malaria with neurological symptoms. One patient showed signs of involvment of the spinal cord with cordonal posterior syndrome. Three patients died and the histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis.
