Abstract
Son yıllarda, yerel araştırmalara yönelik çalışmaların (araştırmaların) yoğunlaştığı; bu araştırmalara kaynaklık eden kütüphane, arşiv ve müze koleksiyonlarının giderek önem kazandığı gözlemlenmektedir.
Yerel arşiv koleksiyonları, modem uygulamalarda, devletlerin taşra teşkilatlarının arşivleri, yerel yönetim arşivleri, şehir arşivleri, özel arşivleri içine alan genel bir tanım olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bu makalede, yerel araştırmalarda arşivlerin değeri, önemi, koleksiyon geliştirme ve seçimi, koruma ve saklanması, indekslenmesi, erişimi ve planlanması ele alınmaktadır.
