Abstract
En la Hacienda "La Providencia", se evaluó la ceba en confinamiento en condiciones comerciales: se utilizó un arreglo factorial de 2 x 2: dos grupos de animales (livianos de 303 kg y pesados de 368 kg) y dos niveles de suplementación proteica con torta de girasol (O y 1 kg/ animal/día), resultando cuatro tratamientos, cada uno con 20 animales. El ensayo duró 125 días y la dieta básica estuvo constituida por ensilaje de maíz, bagacillo de caña predigerido al 3 % de Na OH, melaza de caña, úrea, vitaminas y sal común al 8.5 % P a voluntad. Los animales se implantaron con Zeranol. Los consumos de materia seca/animal/grupo fueron de 7.9, 8.0, 9.4 y 9.1 kg/día., para los tratamientos 1 al 4 respectivamente. El tratamiento 1 fue el más favorable económicamente, seguido por 105 tratamientos 3, 2 y 4. Los tratamientos 2,3 y 4 generaron mayores gastos que ingresos; sin embargo, cuando se incluyó toda la operación, el valor de las ventas brutas fue mayor que los costos variables, presentándose en todos los tratamientos una diferencia positiva. Esto debido a que el valor de los novillos aumentó de un precio de compra a uno de venta durante el período que duró el experimento, por lo tanto, los retornos brutos fueron mayores que 105 costos variables, subsidiando la pérdida debida a que la alimentación estaba costando más, que el valor obtenido por los aumentos de peso conseguido por los animales.
A trial with beef steers was conducted to evaluate a fattening feeding regime under commercial conditions. Two groups of animals were used (303 kg the light weight and 368 kg the heavy weight) and two protein supplement levels (zero and one kg / animal/day); in a 2 x 2 factorial with tour treatments (TRT), each with 20 animals. The duration of the experiment was 125 days and the basal diet consisted of cornsilage, sugar caña bagassepith treated with 13 % Na OH, caña molasses, urea, vitaminas and comun salt with 8.5 % P offered at will. The animals were implanted with Zeranol. Average daily dry matter intake per steer/group was: 7.9, 8.0, 9.4 and 9.1 kg for TRT 1 through 4 respectively. Animal’s gains were: 0.630, 0.830, 0.500 and 0.650 kg/steer/ day for TRT 1 through 4 respectively. In terms of economical returns 1I1ebest TRT group was TRT one, followed by TRTS 3, 2 and 4. Because of lower ADG, steers of TRT 2, 3 and 4 generate more expenses than income. Never the ESS, when full operation in taken to account, the value of the gross sales were larger the variable cost, which thus gave a positive difference for all TRT. The above was due to the fact that the steers sale price increase with respect to the purchase price during the duration of the experiment at a relative higher level than did the variable cost and in this maner subsidized the lower values of the lowers WT gains of the steers on TRT 2, 3 and 4.
