Abstract
This article explores the significance of Zurita 's "La Vida Nueva" in the context of the poet's entire work. lt furthermore proposes that the book is the product of a specific social situation in Chilean society within the frame of the so-called "Political transition towards democracy", and how in a more or less subtle manner it intends to re-write a certain type of poetical text whose clearest antecedent is P. Neruda's "Canto General".
