Abstract
El treball analitza la paradoxa que el model d’unificació italianaexercí sobre Víctor Balaguer: si, per una part, la renaixença italiana amb totel que representava d’element cultural i simbòlic formava part ineludibledel Grand Tour cultural de les generacions joves i cultes del període, perl’altra, el model centralista i uniformitzador del moviment hauria d’haverestat rebutjat per l’escriptor català, defensor de les llibertats locals, especialmentde les dels antics regnes. Tot i això, Víctor Balaguer defensà reiteradamental llarg de la seva vida l’unitarisme italià.
