Abstract
The IFP databank now contains 621 principal accidents occurring between 1 January 1955 and 31 August 1980, including 481 tanker accidents. Further work with this improved databank coupled with more accurate outside statistics have made it possible to bring out various correlations more clearly, and especially the correlation between the aging of the small-tanker fleet and the frequency of accidents occurring to this category of ship.
