Abstract
Rock masses are not perfectly elastic, homogeneous and isotropic. Instabilities in many instances are restricted to block falls or local weak zone failures. Equilibrium of stability by the tunnelling depends on the discontinuity characteristics and patterns rather than on the intact rock properties. In our article are results from own experience to this philosophy.
