Abstract
INTRODUÇÂO A interação entre a pele e a luz solar é enevitável. O potencial de dano depende do tipo e da duração da exposição. A luz solar tem efeitos profundos sobre a pele, e está associada a uma variedade de doenças (quadros 1 e 2). A luz ultravioleta (UV) causa a maioria das reações cutâneas fotobiológicas e doenças. Ela é dividida em UVC (200-290 nm), UVB (290-320 nm) e UVA (320-400 nm). O UVC é quase completamente absorvido pela camada de ozônio; o UVB causa eritema, pigmentação e principalmente alterações que induzem ao câncer cutâneo; o UVA, de maior penetração, além da pigmentação e alterações que induzem o câncer, é o principal indutor de fotossensibilidade.
