Abstract
The paper gives a review of a new consensus on the diagnosis and management of patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), developed by the American College of Gastroenterology, discusses how the approaches recommended in the consensus differ from those in Ukraine. Emphasis is placed on the need for empirical approaches to the control of treatment and relapses in uncomplicated GERD, while in Ukraine in such cases esophagogastroduodenoscopy is carried out quite often. Recommendations on the use of PPIs test.
