Abstract
Es este un libro publicado después de la muerte del autor, pero escrito entre el otoño de 1957 y el de 1960. Hemingway lo inició y terminó en Cuba, trabajándolo en Ketchum (Idaho) por el invierno de 1958-59. Llevó luego el manuscrito a España, en 1959, y volvió con él a Cuba y luego otra vez a Ketchum, a fines de otoño, para terminarlo en la primavera de 1960, tras una interrupción en la cual escribió un libro sobre la rivalidad en los ruedos de España entre los toreros Antonio Ordóñez y Luis Miguel Dominguín, El verano peligroso.
