Abstract
In this paper the authors examine the role of people and knowledge in postindustrial society. What is actually a Person - or a potential resource in the socio-economic system? The authors systematized the main stages of development of society and knowledge, have analyzed how human capital is formed. Disclose his relationship with the human potential and social capital in post-industrial society. Synthesized the basic scientific work on human capital in Russia, revealed the problems of the issue and solutions by generalization of scientific works of famous economists and sociologists.
