Abstract
La familia Apodidae está representada en Suramérica por unas 22 especies, de las cuales 15 habían sido registradas en Colombia, incluyendo una especie endémica Cypseloides lemosi (Meyer de Schauense, 1970; Hilty & Brown, 1986). A pesar de su amplia distribución en Norte y Centroamérica y las Antillas, el Vencejo Negro (Cypseloides niger) no había sido registrado en el país aunque su posible presencia fue advertida por Hilty & Brown (1986).
