Abstract

Este artigo tem como objetivo buscar conhecimento sobre o suporte que as famílias brasileiras dispõem para o cuidado de seus familiares idosos e qual o papel dos Centros de Convivência, Centros-Dia e Instituições de Longa Permanência para Idosos (ILPI) nesses cuidados. As referências relacionadas a Centros-Dia, são poucas, visto ser uma modalidade de atendimento recente. Já as referências às ILPIs nos conduzem ao repensar sobre esse tipo de atendimento, despindo-nos de preconceitos já arraigados.
