Abstract
Actualmente los esfuerzos de los profesionales de enfermería están enfocados hacia la consolidación de un cuerpo de conocimientos concretos que permita el continuo desarrollo de la enfermería como disciplina científica y profesión reconocida; para ello es fundamental asegurar una práctica basada en la evidencia respaldada por el avance de la investigación, tanto en el campo clínico y comunitario, como en los de la gestión y la educación. Este trabajo es una reflexión acerca de la necesidad que tenemos los profesionales de enfermería de comprometernos en el desarrollo disciplinar a través del mejoramiento de la investigación y de la incorporación cuidadosa y con debate teórico de metodologías de trabajo, como la enfermería basada en la evidencia. Además, muestra los aportes, las limitaciones, las críticas y algunas recomendaciones para la implementación de la enfermería basada en la evidencia, en el ámbito del cuidado al adulto, como estrategia para el mejoramiento y el fortalecimiento de la práctica profesional.
Presently the focus of nursing professional’s efforts toward the consolidation of a base of concrete knowledgethat facilitates the continuous development of nursing as a scientific discipline and a recognized one. To reach this goal it is fundamental to ensure evidence-based practice provided by research findings in both clinic and community settings, as well as in advocacy and education. This paper is a reflection on the need of nursing professional’s commitment to the development of the discipline through the improvement of research. These needs to be prudent incorporation of work methodologies based on theoretical debate and evidence of best practice in nursing. Furthermore, this paper shows findings, limitations, criticism and some recommendations to the implementation of evidence-based nursing in the sphere of adult health care as a strategy to improve and strengthen professional practice.
