Abstract
Resumen La organización del sistema de salud en Cuba, que tiene como base la Atención Primaria de Salud, tendrá necesariamente que abordar el estudio y la implementación de la evaluación económica. La presente comunicación permite un acercamiento a conceptos relacionados con la Economía de la Salud. Se abordan las definiciones de economía, evaluación económica, eficiencia económica, costo, beneficio y costo de oportunidad, en el contexto de un ejemplo hipotético de un problema de salud en la atención primaria. Se concluyó que el uso de la evaluación económica proporciona un marco de análisis más integral de los problemas de salud.
Summary The organization of the health system in Cuba that is based on Primary Health Care will have to undertake the study and implementation of economic evaluation. The present communication allows to deal with concepts related to Health Economics. Definitions of economy, economic evaluation, economic efficiency, cost, and cost-benefit of opportunity are approached in the context of a hypothetical example of a health problem in primary care. It was concluded that the use of economic evaluation offers a more comprehensive framework for analyzing health problems.
