Abstract
A endocardite é uma infecção da superfície endotelial do coração de elevada morbimortalidade. Os autores relatam neste artigo, um caso de endocardite infecciosa por Estreptococo viridans em paciente sem história pregressa de doença cardiovascular, que evoluiu com embolia séptica para múltiplos órgãos. Concluiu-se que apesar dos avanços no diagnóstico e terapêutica da endocardite infecciosa, devido ao seu grande espectro de apresentações clínicas, esta doença deve sempre ser lembrada nos diferentes diagnósticos diferenciais na prática médica.
