Abstract
El presente trabajo se propone delinear y esbozar las áreas principales de la problemática teórica de la historia de la traducción, área interdisciplinar que ha ido configurándose y cobrando cada vez mayor autonomía en los últimos años. Esto ha obligado a los investigadores a replantear y repensar algunos de los problemas "eternos" de la filosofía del lenguaje, la semiótica y la historia de la literatura y, de manera más particular, el problema del papel que desempeñó la traducción (en sus múltiples formas y funciones) en el devenir de la civilización europea.
