Abstract
Este artigo tem por objetivo conceitualizar o extermínio enquanto fenômeno político, trazendo esta reflexão para o campo da Saúde Pública. Parte-se de uma análise diferenciadora dos conceitos de homicídio e de extermínio. Em seguida caracteriza-se a dinâmica desta prática enquanto processo político, social, ético e moral, transcendendo ao ato final de execução das vítimas. Especifica-se o extermínio na realidade brasileira e a sua relação com o contexto social no qual este fenômeno é gerado.
