Abstract
RESUMO Estudo da sensibilidade ao contraste, pelo método de Arden, em 37 olhos com acuidade visual melhor ou igual a 20/30, de 25 pacientes com diagnóstico de adenoma hipofisário. Em 24 olhos havia compressão ativa da via óptica e nos outros o defeito campimétrico era seqüela. A sensibilidade ao contraste estava reduzida em 87,5% dos olhos de pacientes com compressão ativa e em 30,76% daqueles com seqüela. O estudo estatistico mostrou que estes 2 grupos foram significativamente diferentes do grupo controle e entre si. O teste mostrou-se sensível para detectar pacientes com compressão ativa da via óptica e pode auxiliar na diferenciação entre estes e aqueles com defeito campimétrico residual (seqüela).
