Abstract
İskenderun Demir Çelik Fabrikası atık maddesi olan cürufun yapısı, çözünürlüğü ve denizel ortama olası etkileri, MartTemmuz 2003 tarihleri arasında araştırılmıştır. Bu kapsamda, cürufun deniz suyu, saf su, yağmur suyu ve yağmur suyu deniz suyu karışımında çözünürlüğü araştırılmıştır. Deniz suyunda, sedimentde, sestonda ve denizel organizmalarda ağır metal derişimleri incelenmiştir. Cürufun çözünürlüğünde Standart Yöntemler, ağır metal analizlerinde AAS ve GFAAS yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Cüruf doğal koşullarda suda çözünmemiştir. Sonuç olarak, İskenderun Demir Çelik fabrikasındaki cüruf depolama alanında cürufun yağmur suyu ile çözünmesinin çok zayıf bir olasılık olduğu ve deniz suyu, sediment, seston ve denizel organizmaların ağır metal derişim sonuçları, cürufun İskenderun Körfezi için ağır metal kirliliği bakımından bir kirlilik unsuru olmadığını göstermiştir
