Abstract
Nesta entrevista, Rancière situa O mestre ignorante no contexto de sua trajetória intelectual e da realidade política, social e acadêmica da França nos anos oitenta. O texto reafirma as principais teses do livro: a ignorância do mestre é a da desigualdade. O princípio, a igualdade, é um axioma a ser verificado. A emancipação supõe um funcionamento igual, universal, das inteligências. A lógica da emancipação nunca trata, em definitivo, senão com relações individuais e ela não é - não pode ser - um sistema escolar, ou uma empreitada cultural. Finalmente, o texto aborda as semelhanças e diferenças entre as concepções de J. Jacotot e Paulo Freire e a atualidade de O mestre ignorante.
