Abstract
Este artigo investiga a extensão e as variações no telefone celular e mensagens de texto enquanto dirige entre os jovens universitários, incluindo se eles alteraram o seu comportamento de condução quando se usa um telefone celular. Os dados foram coletados através de questionários escritos de 203 motoristas habilitados com idades entre 18 e 20 anos. A pesquisa constatou que quase 70% utilizaram o telefone celular durante a condução, e cerca de 30% enviavam mensagens de texto enquanto dirigiam. O uso do telefone durante a condução é prevalente e pode resultar em consequências adversas, incluindo acidentes. Investimento para investigar, monitorar e minimizar o dano é necessário para reduzir as consequências.
